Persuasive Essay
I was murdered at the hands of some of my best friends. Plebeians friendships is not an easy thing and it should not be taken lightly, I was murdered by my best friend, and almost all of my friends betrayed me as well. I will tell you now, what you should know about friendship. So take these words and know that I learned these from a firsthand experience.
You may hear Brutus saying he is a great and just man. He says that he did this crime for the people because, in the words of Brutus, “as he was ambitious, I slew him,” (III.ii.27). The only thing he has ever said is that I’m overly ambitious. If he had more on me than that maybe he would have a good argument.
My best friend murdered me. He admits to doing it in cold blood, Brutus himself says, “how Caesar hath deserved to lie in death,” (III.i.132). This goes to show that he is content with his murderous plot. Just showing no remorse for it makes him sound as if he’s insane. He is a known criminal now. Do you want a criminal to be the leader of Rome? No this would put all the people of Rome in danger.
Almost all the men I viewed as my friends betrayed me. Only one man stayed by me. Antony stayed by my side even after I was murdered. Although I was betrayed by all those men I do not blame them for their failure. However I blame Brutus for leading them astray and telling them, “give me your hands all over, one by one,” (II.i.112). Here he tells all the men to follow him. His manipulation of people with words is the only reason they were swayed. So for that I blame it all on Brutus. I do not put as much blame on the people who blindly followed him.
Friendship is a harsh thing my fellow Romans. I should know this since I was stabbed in the back by my friends (both figuratively and literally). Brutus has already committed murder, what’s stopping him from killing more or doing more crimes? So don’t trust him, and be careful who you choose as your friends.
